What’s new at Grey…

TEEN OPEN STUDIO!

Friday afternoons is an open studio without a structured class. A bevy of materials and an instructor on hand for assistance every Friday! Register here or walk in! $10 bucks.

Last Friday we had teens working on their art journals and printmaking!

UPCOMING EVENTS!

THE COLLECTIVE’S THIRD THURSDAY

Come hang with some local artists and play with clay. Bring your own, or use some clay that will be provided. We will also have some limited tools to use. A small donation to the studio to keep these going if you need supplies would be much appreciated.

PRAIRIE AVENUE BUSINESS EVENT!

The Village will be hosting a few ribbon cuttings for new business opened on Prairie Avenue. Grey Phoenix Art Studio being one of them! More info to come!

KIDS SERIES CLASSES

THE ART OF PAPER CUTTING

What is paper cutting? It's the art of paper designs that has evolved all over the world to adapt to different cultural styles. One traditional distinction most styles share is that the designs are cut from a single sheet of paper as opposed to multiple adjoining sheets as in collage. Join artist, Jane Sirinek, for a workshop into the wonderful world of paper cutting. Sign up here.

YOGA MAKERS & HEALING ART

May 8 at 9am, caring and mindful movement for those who make. Sore hands, poor posture, repetitive movement --all get reset with this physical and artistic class. Breathe into movement that soothes the body with yoga, physical therapy, Pilates and stretch. Channel your flow into meaningful art therapy to wrap up the experience and tap into creative expression. RECYCLED PAPERMAKING WORKSHOP

Turn scraps into something stunning! In this hands-on class, you’ll transform recycled papers and fibers into richly textured, handmade sheets perfect for collage and mixed media. Learn the full process -from pulp to finished paper-while experimenting with texture, inclusions, and natural elements. ART JOURNALING WORKSHOP

We are having a new one start May 12 at 7pm. Come and continue what you have been working on or come for the first time! This is all about the process and discovery, not about the product. Stress free and no experience necessary! Register today here!

INTRO TO PRINTMAKING

If you are either a beginner or someone who needs a space to print make. This class is for you! In our introduction to block printing 3 part workshop, you will take your own graphic or pattern design (or use one of the images in the studio), then learn to transfer it to a Speedy Carve block to produce a linocut stamp. Next, you will practice printing with water soluble ink and your new stamp as you print your image on several prints featuring your block print designs to take home. The second block we will use two different colors with an image you brought or an image that is provided in class. Register today here! 13 yrs and up!
