Transform a simple piece of paper into a whole new world in this two part series! In this paper cutting class, you'll create a zine and a cast of characters to fill it. Create your own magical world by releasing your paper cut beings into the wild. You'll also learn about other artists and storytellers that use this centuries old craft to create stories and environments as simple or complex as they choose. No experience necessary, just bring your imagination.

Pack your creative passport and join us for a global art adventure in this 5 part series! In this engaging hands-on series, young artists will travel across continents and explore the rich traditions, patterns, and techniques of cultures from around the world. Each week, students will “visit” a new region and create artwork inspired by its unique artistic styles and cultural influences.

Through drawing, painting, collage, and mixed-media projects, students will learn how art reflects history, storytelling, and everyday life in different parts of the world. Along the way, they’ll experiment with new materials and techniques while building confidence, creativity, and appreciation for global art traditions.

This series encourages curiosity, cultural appreciation, and creative expression in a fun and welcoming studio environment where every student creates their own unique interpretation of global art.

Skill Level: Beginner-friendly; no prior experience required

All materials are included. Students will complete one finished art project each week to take home.

Beginner Needle-Felted Animals (Two-Part Workshop)

Discover the art of needle felting at Grey Phoenix Art Studio! In this beginner-friendly, two-part workshop, artists ages 10 and up will learn how to transform soft, colorful wool into an adorable animal of their own. In the first session, students will learn basic felting techniques and shape their animal. In the second, they’ll add colors, textures, and details to bring their creation to life. No prior experience is needed—just curiosity and creativity! Each artist will leave with a handmade woolly companion to take home.

2 week series - November 13 & 20

Ready to take your drawing to the next level? A continuation of our previous drawing series, young artists will build their skills while discovering their own creative style.

Each week, students will explore a new drawing technique through fun, hands-on projects designed specifically for middle school artists, but younger artists are most welcome. We'll experiment with observation, proportion, shading, perspective, portraiture, character design, and drawing from imagination—all while encouraging students to take creative risks and make their artwork uniquely their own.

Students will learn how to make drawings feel three-dimensional, use light and shadow to create depth, draw expressive characters, and develop imaginative worlds and stories. Along the way, they'll practice a variety of drawing techniques and gain confidence in their artistic abilities.

This class is perfect for students who love to draw, want to improve their skills, or simply want a creative space to experiment and have fun. No previous drawing experience is required.

Explore the exciting world of contemporary art at Grey Phoenix Art Studio! In this three-part series, young artists will discover the bold styles of Mickalene Thomas, Romero Britto, and Jean-Michel Basquiat. Through colorful portraits, playful patterns, collage, and expressive mixed-media projects, students will experiment with new techniques and explore how artists use color, symbols, and imagery to express themselves. Each class introduces a different artist and inspires students to create their own original masterpieces. Perfect for curious young artists ready to experiment, think creatively, and let their imaginations shine!

Welcome to a world of color, texture, and imagination in this 6 part class! In our Mini Monets class, young artists dive into the joy of creation. At this magical stage, children naturally begin experimenting with lines, shapes, and colors. Our focus is entirely on the journey, not the destination. Kids aren't pressured to make realistic drawings. Instead, they learn to express their unique ideas and develop vital motor skills in a playful, pressure-free environment.

Middle School Ages 11–14

Give young artists the freedom to experiment, build skills, and discover their own artistic style! In this three-part painting series at Grey Phoenix Art Studio, middle school students will explore color, composition, brushwork, and creative techniques while creating original paintings.

Each class introduces a new approach to painting, encouraging students to take creative risks, try new techniques, and develop confidence in their artistic abilities. From bold abstract designs to expressive landscapes and contemporary art, students will explore different styles while making artwork that reflects their own ideas and personalities.

No previous painting experience is necessary—just a willingness to experiment and create!
